Glynis Dixon

I am a native of the coast of Maine. With the inspiration of my mother and grandmother, who were both painters of fine art, it was no surprise that I gravitated toward a life in the arts. I painted at first, though not on canvas like my mother and grandmother. I painted furniture and murals, both commercial and residential, and later added floorcloths into the mix. As time passed, my quest to create continued. This quest led me to MECA in Portland, ME, to take a metalsmithing class. I wanted to find ways to use the sea glass and beach stone I had been collecting since I was a young girl. I had no idea this would change my life forever. It was here, in the 3 hours of my first class, that I found my passion….. a crazy love for metals. I find their versatility, the tones, textures and patinas you can create, incredibly intriguing. Now, years later, it is full steam ahead and I have never looked back. I am embracing this passion, full time, in my home studio. Most days, that is where you will find me….at my bench, surrounded by my growing collection of antique hammers, my torch and tools, hammering out new designs, mixing metals with leather, torch fired enamels and found objects. It soothes my soul. Today, I live on the seacoast with my family, never having wandered far from the rocky shores of Maine.

All pieces are handcrafted by me one at a time. They may vary slightly in appearance and measurement.
Sea glass & beach stone pieces are one of a kind. I will come as close to the colors and size as possible. Each piece will be unique to you
